Video Review: Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism

Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism [DVD]

I downloaded this FREE workout from Direct TV's Video On Demand.
I love doing this because what if I hate the workout and I just wasted my money? Not a frugal fitness solution!!!
Here is the bottom line: YOU WORK YOUR BUTT OFF!! Jillian Michaels is not a fancy instructor with fancy moves that are too confusing for a klutz like me. Some of her moves in the this video are so simple that is starts off funny and by then end you want to cry. Her 50 minute interval work is effective and you do get a great cardio workout. Like always, she throws in some arms/legs/and core work to round it all out.
If you want a simple and kick butt workout, definitely buy this one. I have seen it as low at $8.99 at Wal-Mart. Watch the video below to get an idea what you are getting into!

Compare Beach Body Workouts Such As P90x, Insanity, Slim in 6, Turbo Fire and more

Have you frozen your gym membership and need something new? Have you seen all the infomercials on fitness DVDs and equipment? Well like most of us, you have seen P90x, Insanity or even Turbo Fire advertised. But have you wondered if P90x or Insanity is for you? Have you ever heard of Yoga Booty Ballet or Slim in 6? These are just a few of the workout programs you can also buy from Beach Body. Yes, I am a Beach Body Coach, but I don't feel P90x or Insanity are for everyone. I like them, but If need something different, try Body Gospel or Rev Abs. One of my favorites is Brazil Butt Lift..what I wouldn't give to have their butts!! Now that workout will leave you with a sore booty! If you don't think you can buy them, ask around..there are many copies of P90x out there..

Click on the link below to compare all the Beach Body DVD collections. It will tell you the intensity and who it might be good for and how long each workout is!

Review of Jillian Michaels: Yoga Meltdown

Okay Blogger Friends, I am starting my DVD review of the month! Since Yoga is a four letter word to me, I started there. I will actually do the videos and give you my honest opinion! Here is what Yoga means to me:
Y: You have got to be kidding me?
O: Oh crap this hurts!
G: God help me reach my toes!
A: Absurd poses I can't do..

Yoga is actually essential to stretching out your muscles, building a strong body foundation, strengthening everything and learning how to breath effectively through any workout. So it is a great workout, I am just a flunky when it comes to it. After 15 years of basic strength training and little stretching I feel like a cold piece of chewing gum!

Today I recorded one of Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown workouts. Direct TV had a 30 minute workout that I can keep for a month. Not bad for a frugal workout and I did not have to pay extra.
FYI: This workout is NOT a true yoga workout. Jillian adds her "rep it out" version by doing basic yoga poses with a body resistance twist.
For example you do a series of yoga poses that add body resistance and you hold the last rep for 15 seconds. She has two other people with her so you can see advanced and beginner moves. I was somewhere between beginner and basic. I was sweating and my triceps and back are really sore from the many plank push ups. I still need work on my downward dog because it looks more like an old sick dog! I really did enjoy this workout not only because I really felt it in my muscles, but I got a great stretch. I just hate sitting in weird poses trying to breathe for long periods of time. If you are a yoga junky however, this might disappoint. If you go into it looking for a yoga with a twist, then you will be happy!
So far I have found the cheapest place for the entire 2 workout DVD is Wal-Mart and Amazon.com. Both are under $9.00. Give it a try..and happy posing

The Weekly Resolution: The Weekly" Fail-Solution"

  • Monday: Dear Body, I promise to make it to the gym everyday this week and eat only healthy foods.
  • Tuesday: Dear Body, the baby is cranky today so I promise to make it to the gym 4 times this week and eat salads with every meal.
  • Wednesday: Dear Body, I am sorry my alarm clock didn't go off so I couldn't go to the gym and I didn't make it to the store to buy salad. I will work out at nap time.
  • Thursday: Dear Body, I promise to eat a salad at Chic Filet when we meet for playgroup and I will take a walk after nap.
  • Friday: Dear Body, I am so upset I didn't exercise once or eat well all week. I am going to pig out the rest of the week and start again on Monday. I promise!!!
Instead of 10 things you promise yourself, commit to one and make it small. Commit for a week to wake up 30 minutes early or drink an extra glass of water a day, NOT 8!!! Keep up those habits and then add one or two more. When you "fall off the healthy wagon" don't go all rogue and ruin it with 4 candy bars. Eat one and then move on. When you are a mom, life happens and you have to plan around it. You can't have your life planned around you. Your kids get sick, you have one too many errands etc..it happens. Pick yourself up and keep going. If you can't get to the gym that day try working out at home for 30 minutes or play an outdoor game with your kids. The point is, don't over promise yourself each week because you will most likely fail. That is how gyms profit: The New Year's Resolutioners! They commit for 3 years and make it for 2 weeks. When they don't lose the 30 lbs they want or get hurt because they went to 7 classes in a week, they quit. Do yourself a favor: quit making promises and just make small changes. They will add up over time and you will stop feeling like a failure on Fridays.

Grilled Lime Pork Tenderloin

recipe photo
2
pork tenderloins (3/4 lb each)
4
cloves garlic, thinly sliced
2
tablespoons grated lime peel
1
tablespoon vegetable oil
2
teaspoons fresh lime juice
1/2
teaspoon honey
1/4
teaspoon salt
1/8
teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  1. Heat gas or charcoal grill. Cut small, 1/4- to 1/2-inch-deep slits in top of each pork tenderloin. Insert garlic slices into slits.
  2. In small bowl, mix lime peel, oil, lime juice, honey, salt and pepper until well blended.
  3. When grill is heated, brush pork tenderloins with lime mixture. Place pork on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals; cover grill. Cook 18 to 22 minutes, turning several times, until pork has slight blush of pink in center and meat thermometer inserted in center reads 160°F. Cut pork into slices to serve.
Makes 6 servings
I marinated them all day.
